According to a study by Oxford University, 47% of today’s jobs will have disappeared in the next 25 years. But what if it weren’t a matter of surviving the digital revolution, but of leading it? Continuous training is one of the strategies that many companies have begun to use to improve their employees’ performance and results and get ahead of the disruptions that the digital world has in store.

High-level expertise. To analyse the role of training in companies and in the future of society, SEAT S.A. Executive Vice-president for Human Resources and Organisation, Xavier Ros, and the President and founder of ISDI (Higher Institute for Internet Development), Javier Rodríguez Zapatero, accepted an invitation to Moving Forward to talk about training in a new episode of the SEAT S.A. podcast, now available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Ivoox.

An educational revolution. According to Ros, “traditional training where there used to be a teacher who knew a lot and gave classes to his or her students is becoming increasingly obsolete”, To Zapatero, “education is going to undergo radical change” and “it’s possibly the sector that’s going to change the most, not as a model but as a way of doing things”.

The value of investment. In order to promote training in the corporate sphere, SEAT S.A. Executive Vice-president for Human Resources and Organisation shared the company’s training strategies: “We invest an average of 1,500 euros per year per employee, some 23 million euros in total.” Ros also emphasised his will to turn SEAT S.A. into a “training ecosystem, a learning organisation” for employees: “They simply have to show their desire, and the company takes care of everything else”.

A future ahead. For Ros, the key to the short and long-term future is to put training at the centre of business and social life. Meanwhile, Zapatero sees the future as child’s game: “The future of education is that we should always be able to feel like children and also be very excited about the next step in our own learning” he says.

The workers have their say. Ros and Zapatero have also answered several questions raised by SEAT S.A. employees about training. Moving Forward’s goal is to evolve to a collaborative podcast in which the audience will be able to propose topics of interest through the company’s social media.
